Our Staff

Our exceptional, friendly staff is our greatest asset. They are excited about what they do and they care personally about getting the best results for our patients.

Our receptionists will try to accommodate your busy schedule by finding appointments that suit your needs.

Katy

Office Manager, Optician, Optometric Assistant, Ophthalmic Lab Technician

Katy began working in the optical industry over 10 years ago. She is passionate about helping patients select the most suitable frame, and educating them on the different lenses that would most benefit their lifestyle and daily use. She recently decided to expand her knowledge and understanding by becoming an Optician. Katy values making connections with every person that walks into the office, and hopes to help make their experience both seamless and enjoyable. When she is not at the office, Katy enjoys spending time with her family, pampering her dog Hank and cat Walter, reading and watercolour painting.

Barbie

Optometric Assistant

Barbie has proudly worked at Waterloo Vision Care Clinic since 2003. She grew up in British Columbia and first started her career there as a Dispensing Optician. Barbie is often the friendly voice you hear on the telephone or one of the smiling faces who greets you when you enter the office. In her spare time, Barbie enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

Carol

Optometric Assistant & Bookkeeper

Carol has proudly worked at the Waterloo Vision Care Clinic since 2001. Carol has several years of experience working in optometry offices. Primarily, Carol is responsible for keeping our books up to date, however, you may meet her at the front desk, pre-testing, contact lens training or during a frame selection. Carol is a very proud “Neena” to her 4 grandchildren whom she loves spending time with!

Angela

Optician, Optometric Assistant, Ophthalmic Lab Technician

Angela joined our team in 2015. She has worked in the optical industry for over 25 years. Angela co-ordinates frame orders and lens processing to ensure patients receive the highest possible quality of eyewear. Angela spends a lot of time working in our lab, however, you may meet her during a frame selection, adjustment or pre-testing. In 2019, Angela went back to school and has become an Optician. We are very proud of her!

Kelly

Optometric Assistant, Ophthalmic Lab Technician

Kelly joined our team in 2019 and has over 30 years of experience working in the optometric industry. Kelly takes pride in assisting patients chose the perfect frame based on their face shape and colour and the proper lens design based on their visual needs. In her spare time Kelly enjoys spending time with her husband, working around their farm and boating!

Stephanie

Optometric Assistant

Steph started at Waterloo Vision Care Clinic during her Health Science undergrad, initially as a volunteer. Since she began at WVCC, Steph has helped out with a number of different roles. You may find her at the front desk, pretesting, or working in the dry eye clinic. Steph is outgoing and enjoys connecting with each patient in the office, and hopes to become an optometrist herself. When not at work, you can find Steph with one of her sports teams, or spending a summer day by the pool, with her friends and family.

Kayla

Optometric Assistant

Kayla joined our team in May 2021 as an optometric assistant but you may also see her at the front desk. She has had a lifelong passion for optometry since the age of 7, has been working in clinics since 2016 and is on the path to become an optometrist herself! Kayla values each and every patient, ensuring they all are cared for based on their own individual needs. In her spare time she enjoys basketball, both playing and watching, as well as going for sunset walks and watching her favourite Netflix shows.

Lindsay

Optometric Assistant

Lindsay joined our team in 2022 where she brought to the table numerous years of front-line customer support and administrative skills, combined with several years of experience as an Optometric Assistant. Her passion in this field is driven by the connections she builds daily with patients and customers and her love for providing in-depth and informative frame selections by fitting each patient with the appropriate sized frame, along with the patients’ needs, personality, and facial structures. In addition, you will find that she has a meticulous eye for detail when it comes to glasses adjustments. You will see her most often in the frame gallery and adjustment area as well as occasional appearance at the front desk! Her spare time is spent enjoying the outdoors, reading and spending quality time with her family.

Julia

Julia worked in the optical industry for a year and a half prior to joining our team. Her friendly voice will welcome you to the office as you approach the front desk or call to book an appointment. She is also skilled in visual field testing to help determine the accuracy of your peripheral vision! In her spare time, Julia enjoys going for walks, reading, watching movies and spending time with her niece.
